‘‘Intuitive, sensitive, disciplined, playful’’

For as long as I can remember, I have been very intuitive, following the flow of movement, sound and storytelling.
Inspired by books and movies I started to create my own little stories; expressing through different forms like poetry, painting, dancing, singing and making music.
After high school I took a year to join a pre-dance education (5 o’clock class) that soon led me to the path of dance and performance arts.

During my education at the Amsterdam School of Arts, Urban Contemporary Dance Department, I worked disciplined on a diverse range of dance forms - like jazz, modern, ballet, tapdance, housedance -, next to acting and singing classes. Among other things I learned to co-create and to find my own voice amid many other strong and creative individuals.
Nearing the end of the 4 years I got inspired by working with dance and vocals/breath.

After achieving my bachelor in June 2015 I initiated ‘‘Music in Motion’’, to further explore the combination of dance and sound. Through experimentation with my loopstation I created a couple of dance-theatre pieces: Transcendence (2017), Ik zoek jou (2019), Breath is Key (2019 Veenendaal, 2020 TapasTheater)
Also adding some short films to my repertoire: Who will love you (2018), Pulling on the rope (2018), Lion (2020), Parrot (2021).

In 2020 I started teaching Movement sessions, where I combined my dance knowledge with the Ido Portal method and more recently under guidance of Marcello Palozzo as an active student of the Human Movement Studies. I also initiated my own design brand ‘‘Designbyjori’’, a platform and artistic outlet where I would blend design with dance and music.
